OFAC has designated three Türkiye-based financial entities linked to Iran and issued a general license allowing certain transactions to be wound down.03 min read
The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) on September 4, 2026, designated three Türkiye-based financial entities under Executive Order 13902 for their links to Golden Global Yatırım Bankası Anonim Şirketi.
The designated entities are:
- Golden Global Portföy Yönetimi Anonim Şirketi
- Golden Global Varlık Kiralama Anonim Şirketi
- Golden Global Yatırım Bankası Anonim Şirketi (Golden Global Investment Bank)
The action expands OFAC’s Iran-related sanctions targeting financial channels connected to the Iranian regime. For compliance teams, the designations reinforce the need to identify ownership, corporate relationships, and indirect exposure when screening financial institutions and counterparties.
OFAC Issues Iran General License CC
Alongside the designations, OFAC issued Iran General License CC, authorizing the wind down of transactions involving certain persons blocked on September 4, 2026.
The authorization provides a limited period for eligible parties to wind down covered transactions. It does not remove the underlying sanctions designations or create a general authorization for dealings with blocked persons.
What Compliance Teams Should Review
Financial institutions should update sanctions screening systems with the newly designated entities and review existing relationships, payments, and correspondent banking exposure involving the affected organizations.
The action also highlights the importance of entity-resolution and relationship mapping, particularly where financial institutions operate through subsidiaries, affiliates, or related corporate structures.
Compliance teams should assess the new designations against existing counterparties and apply General License CC only where its specific conditions are met.
